Fresh snow likely on Sunday morning

Summary

We'll see dry weather on Friday, some snow showers on Saturday, and then steadier snow on Saturday night, which should lead to some powder on Sunday.

Update

We are waiting for the next and potential final storm of 2023.

In the meantime, Friday will be dry, partly sunny, and warm-ish with a high temperature of about 30°F.

On Saturday, the first part of the weekend storm could bring snow showers at any time from the morning through the afternoon, though I think snow accumulations will be light with just a dusting to maybe a few inches. Temperatures on Saturday will be warm with a high in the 20s.

On Saturday evening, Saturday night, and through most of Sunday, the second part of the weekend storm should deliver steadier or even intense snow for some of this time, with 3-6+ inches of snow accumulation.

The timing of the storm means that our best chance for softer conditions (and perhaps even powder conditions if we get enough snow) will be on Sunday morning, with snow accumulations possibly continuing throughout the day on Sunday. Temperatures on Sunday will be cooler, with a high in the teens.

While the track of this storm is not ideal to bring us deep accumulations, this storm will have a lot of moisture and it will strengthen over eastern Colorado, and both of these factors increase the likelihood of an upside surprise. Let's hope this happens.

Following the storm, Monday (Christmas day) should bring lingering clouds with a high temperature in the teens, then the final six days of 2023 will likely be dry with high temperatures becoming warmer and staying mostly in the 20s. Looking ahead to early 2024, there is a chance for a storm during the first five days of the year, though a storm is certainly not a guarantee at this point.
