Steamboat Daily Snow

By Joel Gratz, Founding Meteorologist Posted 9 years ago March 30, 2016
It’s a powder day on Wednesday as 6-8 inches of new snow fell on Tuesday evening. We were lucky and saw a few heavier cells push directly over Steamboat, and this is why we measured more snow than my conservative forecast of up to 4 inches. I tend to forecast conservatively because I hate to over promise and am happy if the atmosphere finds a way to deliver us more snow than I expect. Also, I have more good news, which is that we’ll see an additional 3-6 inches of snow during the day on Wednesday as another piece of this storm pushes from north-to-south over Steamboat.
There will be a lull in the snow on Wednesday night, and then the third and final piece of this storm should produce 2-4 inches of snow on Thursday, so the fresh turns will continue! We’ll finally see the snow end by later Thursday afternoon, then Friday through about Monday will be dry and mostly sunny. Our next chance for a storm will arrive during the middle or end of next week.
