Update

*** The mountain will open for Scholarship Day on Wednesday, November 22nd (passes are not valid, all proceeds from the day's ticket benefit the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Scholarship Fund). The first day that you can use a season's pass or multi-day pass will be Thursday, November 23rd. ***

On Tuesday night, the temperature dipped into the low-to-mid 20s which is allowing for snowmaking. We need a set of cooler nights like this leading up to Thanksgiving, and preferably for the best snowmaking conditions, it would be colder, with temperatures into the single digits and teens with low humidity.

Weatherwise, Wednesday and Thursday will be dry, then we'll see a storm from Thursday night through Friday night.

Expect light-to-moderate snow during the day Friday with a few inches of accumulation, a gusty wind, and a snow level up around mid-mountain. Then expect a period of intense snow and colder temperatures sometime between about 2 pm - 8 pm, with possible very low visibility, especially driving over Rabbit Ears Pass. After this, there will be a few more inches of snow on Friday evening, with clearing skies by Saturday morning.

Storm total snowfall should be in the 5-10 inch range, and perhaps a bit higher depending on how much snow falls on Friday evening.

When you wake up on Saturday morning, it'll feel like a proper winter day with clear blue skies, cold temperatures, and fresh snow cover.

After this storm, we could see a bit of snow around Tuesday, November 21st. The weather pattern looks mostly dry during Thanksgiving week, but temperatures should be cool enough for nighttime snowmaking, and I see hints for a more active weather pattern starting in early December.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for an updated forecast!
