Update

The mountain will open for Scholarship Day on Wednesday, November 22nd (passes are not valid, all proceeds from the day's ticket benefit the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Scholarship Fund). The first day that you can use a season's pass or multi-day pass will be Thursday, November 23rd.

So far this season, we've seen more dry and warm weather than we have snow, but we did receive a significant storm between November 4-7 with about 12 inches of snow at the summit.

Looking ahead, expect dry weather through Thursday, then a storm will bring snow from Thursday night through Friday night. Friday should be a stormy day with snow, cooling temperatures, and strong winds. Total snowfall by Saturday morning should be in the 5-10 inch range. This storm is trending stronger, so I am hopeful we'll get toward the top of this range on the upper half of the mountain.

After this storm, the weekend will be dry and then we'll have a chance for light snow around Tuesday, November 21st. For the latter part of November, most models indicate dry weather, but a storm or two could bust through the ridge of high pressure that is forecast to cover the western US.

Looking far ahead, some models show a shift toward snowier and cooler weather sometime in early to mid-December, which would be great timing. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for an updated forecast!
