Chance of Snow Showers Sunday Afternoon into Monday Morning, Then Dry...

Summary

- The next weak system moves down the CA coast Sunday into Monday. The system is tracking off the CA coast with little moisture making it to the Sierra. We could see snow showers break out Sunday afternoon into Monday morning before clearing. Totals of 1-3 inches of new snow possible on the mountains by Monday morning. Snow levels below lake level. Southwest winds of 30+ mph expected Sunday turning east Monday. Highs in the 30s. - High pressure builds back in by Tuesday through next weekend. We should see sunny skies and warming temps New Year's Eve. Then maybe some clouds from a system to the north New Year's Day. Sunny again Thursday, and more clouds possible Friday into the weekend from systems to the north. Highs could warm into the 40s at lake level and 30s on the upper mountains. We could continue to see breezy ridgetops with gusts to 30+ mph through the week. - We could see a pattern change with a better chance for storms the 2nd week of January.
