Much Needed Precip...

Not much change from yesterday's post.  The low over Southern CA Tuesday will bring precip to Southern CA and maybe some light precip to the Tahoe area.  On Wednesday a trough moves towards the West Coast but it stays to our North with a low splitting off and moving down the coast.  That will bring more precip for Wednesday into Thursday.  With the trough staying to our North the cold air never makes it in and the snow levels stay high at 8000 feet or higher.  We could see an inch or more of liquid on the mountains which is great for the drought.

On Friday another system moves through to our North.  Yesterday we questioned if this low would drop into CA bringing more precip and colder air, but right now it looks like it will stay to our North.

Another storm approaches for next Monday into Tuesday.  This storm is still more than a week out, but right now it looks like it could be the coldest in the series of storms with the best chance for snow.

Overall a great period of stormy weather is ahead for the next 10 days that will bring much needed precip to our drought stricken state.  For snow we were hoping the trough would push in cold air and drop snow levels Wednesday, but the last few days the trend has been for the cold air not to make it into Northern CA.  Anything can happen so we will keep tracking the storms and their paths all week.

Stay tuned...BA
