The incoming storm looks solid
Summary
Wednesday will be dry, Thursday might bring snow showers, and then a multi-part storm should deliver significant snow from Friday through Monday.
Update
Reminder: This season is starting with a much lower snowpack compared to the average and compared to last season, and the ski area is not yet open. Telluride plans to open on December 2, 2023 (latest update here).
Tuesday's weather was mostly sunny and warm with a high temperature in the 20s and 30s.
Wednesday's weather will be similar with a few more clouds in the sky.
Thursday will bring more clouds and some snow showers, but I think snow accumulations will be little or zero during the day.
From Thursday night through Monday, a multi-part storm will bring snow to Colorado, and snow accumulations could/should be significant. I'll offer an initial estimate of 8-12 inches of snow, and this number could increase as we get closer to the storm and my confidence in the forecast grows.
From Thursday night to Saturday morning, we will see some snow, though the overall storm setup will not be as favorable for big accumulations with the wind direction being a bit too much out of the south (most likely).
Then from Saturday through Monday, the storm setup and the wind direction will become more favorable, and this is when we should see deeper snow totals.
Our best chance for some powder will likely be from sometime on Saturday through Monday, or even Tuesday if more terrain opens just after the storm.
The longer-range forecast will shift us back to dry weather next Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Then the next chance for snow will be during the December 8-11 timeframe, though at this point, the chance for a storm between the 8-11th is only about 50/50.
