Posting Schedule

I am traveling to ski with my family through February 2. In an attempt to spend as much time with them (and get some sleep, too!), my posts will be shorter and more to the point than normal. And I will write on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule unless it makes sense to adjust this based on the timing of upcoming storms. Finally, at the bottom of each post, I will always mention when to expect the next post. Thanks for your understanding and your support!

This Week

During the week, high temperatures will be in the 20s, and a storm tracking to the south of Colorado could push snowflakes over the Telluride area from Tuesday to Thursday.

On Monday, the weather will be dry and sunny.

On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, snow showers will spread over the southern Colorado mountains and there could be 3-6 inches of snow accumulation from Tuesday afternoon through Thursday. While the wind direction (from the east and north) will not be favorable for snowfall, there should be enough moisture and storm energy to bring a decent chance for accumulating snow to Telluride. If the snow does fall, the best chance for some powder will be on Wednesday and Thursday.

Friday should then be dry and sunny as the storm will have moved to the east of Colorado.

This Weekend

Around Saturday, February 1, or Sunday, February 2, the next storm will track to the north of Colorado and I think that Telluride will stay dry with high temperatures in the low 30s.

Longer Range

It looks like the next chance for snow could start around Wednesday, February 5, or Thursday, February 6, and will likely extend into the weekend of February 8-9. Many of the storms during the past six weeks have occurred on weekends, so this next system may be delayed so that it starts on the weekend as well. Sometimes the atmosphere sticks with a pattern for many weeks or even months!
