Heavy snow for Colorado and the Southwest this week

Summary

A strong multi-day storm will bring deep snow totals to Colorado, Southern Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico this week while Tahoe will also see a good round of snow on Monday and Tuesday. Late in the week, a strong storm will take aim at the Northeast with heavy snow possible for Northern New England.

Short Term Forecast

Snow forecast for the Southwest early this week:

A strong storm will bring multiple days of heavy snow to the Southwest U.S. from Monday morning through Wednesday night with deep totals adding up, especially in Southwest Colorado. Check out the Colorado Daily Snow for the latest on this storm. 

Forecast for Mon 2/21 – Tue 2/22:

Light snow will linger across the Northern Rockies on Monday, while Oregon, California, and the Southwest U.S. will see moderate to heavy snow on Monday and into Tuesday. A strong storm will also bring heavy snow to portions of the Upper Midwest as well as Southeast Canada (north of the St. Lawrence River) with rain for the Northeast U.S.

Forecast for Wed 2/23 – Thu 2/24:

The strongest part of the Western storm will bring heavy snow to the Four Corners region on Tuesday night and Wednesday with deep totals adding up across Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Southern Utah. Snow will linger across the Upper Midwest and Southeast Canada early on Wednesday as well.

Forecast for Fri 2/25 – Sat 2/26:

A storm will impact the Northeast on Friday and Friday night with heavy snow currently projected for Upstate New York and Northern New England while Southern New England and Southern New York could end up seeing more ice than snow. A weak disturbance will also move across the Rockies but only flurries/light snow showers are expected. 

Extended Forecast

Outlook for Sun 2/27 – Thu 3/3:

A colder and more active pattern will set up across the East during this time with at least some snow likely for New England and the Mid-Atlantic during this time. Out West, the storm track will be most favorable for the Pacific Northwest, especially later in this period.
