Warming Up in the West with Significant High Elevation Snow in Canada
Summary
A series of strong storms involving subtropical moisture and warm air will impact the Northwest over the next week with heavy snow and rain. Many ski areas will deal with rain issues unfortunately, while higher terrain in BC and Alberta will be favored for deep totals. In the East, the pattern will quiet down a bit but the Great Lakes and Northern New England will see light snow showers.

A series of moisture-laded storms involving subtropical moisture will slam into the Northwest and Canada over the next week. In the East, the pattern looks calmer than it has in weeks with only some weaker disturbances for the Great Lakes and Northern New England (sneaky good snow totals still possible), while the Mid-Atlantic will see a stretch of dry weather.

Extended Forecast
Outlook for Thu (Feb 27) to Mon (Mar 3):
A ridge of high pressure will dominate the pattern across the West early in this period with above-normal temperatures. However, we could see some storms sneak into the West during the first few days of March, with the potential for higher snowfall east of the Divide in the Canadian Rockies and Northern U.S. Rockies.
In the East, a colder pattern is expected along with snowfall potential for the Mid-Atlantic, New England, and Upper Midwest.

What are the main use cases for the forecast snowfall maps?
Get an easy-to-use visualization of the snow forecast for your favorite locations, check the timing of upcoming storms to catch the deepest turns or to avoid snowy road conditions, and see which ski resorts are favored for the deepest snow totals.
Are there any limitations to the forecast snowfall maps?
The forecast snowfall maps count "mixed precipitation" as "snow" so the maps could show more snow in areas that are getting sleet or freezing rain, along with where the rain/snow line is difficult to forecast. Double-check any location by tapping the map for the forecast details.
