One more storm in the west and active in the east

Summary

The western US will see one more storm this weekend before high pressure and dry weather takes control during most of next week. In the east, a storm will bring snow to southern New England on Thursday, then another storm will bring a mix of snow, ice, and rain later in the weekend.

Short Term Forecast

The final two days of this week, Thursday and Friday, will bring snow storms to both sides of the country. A cold storm will dump snow on the northwestern US and southwestern Canada while another storm brings powder to the mid-Atlantic and southern New England.

Then, during the weekend, the western storm will move over Utah and Colorado for potential powder on Saturday, while in the east, a warmer storm will bring rain to most areas with a mix of snow, ice, and rain over northern New England on Sunday into Monday.

Extended Forecast

Next week, between February 13-17, the western US and most of Canada will experience high pressure, sunshine, and mostly dry weather. The east should also be free of a significant storms, though lake-effect and lake-enhanced snow could fall over the higher-elevation hills.

The temperature outlook next week shows warm weather over the west with cooler-than-average weather over the northeast.

A big change should occur sometime around February 18th as the west and southwest becomes cooler and stormier while the east warms up.

It’s likely that big-time powder will return to the west between February 18-28th...stay tuned for more about that!
