Summary

MLK day will feature a potent storm moving thru with heavy snowfall for Utah. Significant accumulations are likely with bluebird conditions on Tuesday. A weak system will clip northern Utah on Wednesday night.

Short Term Forecast

Everything is on track.  Snow is already falling per webcams at 4:30am with an inch or two already in some spots. By the time lifts start spinning, I'd expect many northern Utah resorts to already be rocking 3-6" of snow and it will continue to accumulate thru the day.  1-2 FEET still looking good for total accumulation.

Snow lingers into this evening before tapering off overnight.  Tuesday just may be bluebird!

We have another weak system timing for Wednesday night that could bring a few inches to soften turns on Thursday.

Extended Forecast

A ridge will build along the west coast for the last week of January. This will generally block systems from reaching the area.  However, the Euro drops a weakish system down the backside of the ridge and into the region around the 28th.  The GFS doesn't have this system, but tries to break down the ridge around January 31st or February 1st.  I'm hopeful that this will be a relatively short break in the action.
