Update

Just a quick update today to raise awareness of a potential change to the prevailing weather... I will dive into much further detail tomorrow (Monday).

It looks like we have another 5-6 days of relatively mild autumn weather before a potent cold front drops into Utah next weekend. Snow, even down to lower elevations, is looking likely. Right now this is looking like a very cold trough, but questions remain regarding its dynamic structure and just how much moisture it will have. At this point, I'd say we have high likelihood of cold temps next weekend and at least some snow for Northern Utah. Just how much snow and how far south this trough drops is still unclear. Still too early to say for sure whether this will be a one-off or a more substantial pattern change, but early indications show it more as a one-off event before high pressure returns to close out October.

Hopefully we will have a bit clearer picture tomorrow (Monday) and I will make a detailed post.
