Monotony

Summary

Warming temps this weekend as blocking high pressure keeps Utah dry. No chances for significant snow in the next 10 days.

Short Term Forecast

Temperatures remain cold this morning but we are seeing warming aloft as we head into the weekend. Same story weatherwise as blocking high pressure will remain parked along the west coast and therefore prevent any storms from reaching Utah. A weak brush-by later this weekend could increase clouds and breezes a bit, but I don't expect any snowfall. Could see another such system next week. Overall, very little chance for any real snow in the next 10 days. *sigh*

Extended Forecast

Right now, the only glimmer of hope we have is that the pattern may shift after mid-month. Euro height anomalies show the ridge moving farther west and the trough settling into our region:

This is still close to 15 days out before we may see such a shift, so needless-to-say, my confidence in this scenario is very low. We have nothing we can do but watch and wait and hope.
