Update
Welcome to the Winter Daily Snow for the 2018-2019 season!
I will write a fresh update every day through the end of the season in April 2019. We will talk about snow, the weather forecast, and especially when we can expect the next storms and deep powder days.
--
On Thursday morning we picked up 2 inches on the snow stake cam as a weak system moved through northern Colorado. This might not seem noteworthy, but every inch counts!
Now on Friday morning, temperatures are cold (in the single digits) though full sunshine will help us to warm into the low 20s by midday.
Saturday will also be sunny and dry.
Our next chance for snow will be from Saturday night through Monday midday. Right now I think 2-4 or 3-5 inches is about the right forecast as this storm will target the mountains of the northern divide (around Winter Park) though limited moisture in the very cold air will keep accumulations on the lower end. Temperatures on Sunday and Monday will likely not make it out of the teens and Monday morning lows could be below zero. Great for snowmaking!
Everything is looking good for opening day on Wednesday, November 14 with a snowpack that is 200% of average. Also, while we will likely see dry weather around opening day, the longer-range outlooks show a chance for a storm around November 20th and then another stormy period sometime between about November 22 - December 2.
