Update

Welcome to the Winter Daily Snow for the 2018-2019 season!

I will write a fresh update every day through the end of the season in April 2019. We will talk about current snow conditions, the weather forecast, and especially when we can expect the next storms and deep powder days.

Our current snowpack is about 200% of average thanks to two early-season storm cycles in early October and early November. The mountain cams look amazing as the mountain is white from base to summit, and the natural snow depth is about 25 inches at mid-mountain.

Saturday will be partly sunny and warmer with a morning low around 15-20 degrees on the hill and an afternoon high in the low 30s.

On Saturday night, expect light snow to begin and we will see snow showers through Monday morning.

A snow forecast of 2-5 inches for the storm seems reasonable. The most snow from this system will fall just east of Winter Park in the foothills east of the divide down through the western suburbs of Denver. However, enough storm energy should hit Winter Park to deliver at least a few inches of snow.

Temperatures on Sunday and Monday will likely not make it out of the teens, and Monday morning lows could be below zero. While these cold temperatures can limit the amount of moisture in the air, which can limit snowfall totals, the cold temperatures will ensure that ongoing snowmaking efforts are fruitful!

Following the storm on Sunday into Monday, expect dry weather for Tuesday and also on Wednesday, November 14, which is opening day for the season!

The dry weather will likely stick around through early Thanksgiving week, then most longer-range models show a good chance for stormy weather to return starting within a few days of Thanksgiving and continuing into early December.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
