Update

Thursday

Temperatures were warm on Wednesday with just light accumulations.

And then on Wednesday night, we did see a period of very intense snow and the mid-mountain snow stake shows that 11 inches quickly piled up.

Due to warmer temperatures, this snow is thick and surfy, but hey, it’s nearly a foot of snow, so we won’t be too picky! Also, temperatures did cool by about 7 degrees overnight, so the snow on top should be a little fluffier than the snow on the bottom, which is how we like it.

For the rest of Thursday, it’s likely that the band of the most intense snow could stay south of the mountain, so we could see an additional few inches but the odds are against any major accumulation.

Storm 2: Friday – Saturday Afternoon

Expect snow to arrive by Friday midday and continue through Saturday morning. The snow on Friday afternoon will come in bursts and will be dense, then colder air will arrive and the snow that falls on Friday night and Saturday should be fluffy.

Right now, due to lower moisture on Friday night, I’ll keep my expectations in check and go with a 4-8 inch forecast. The best powder should be on Saturday.

Storm 3: March 12-14

Another storm will head toward Colorado from around Tuesday, March 12 through Thursday, March 14. This will be a tricky forecast as the storm will move through the state in multiple pieces, and it’ll take another few days until we can start discussing the details.

Longer Range

We’ll likely trend toward dry weather between March 15-20 and then the next chance for snow could be around March 20-21.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
