Sunday was a lovely day with sunny skies and warm temperatures.

Now on Monday morning, clouds are covering the sky thanks to a weak storm that passed by during the night, but the storm was very weak and maybe we only saw a dusting overnight (I can’t see any flakes on the snow stake cam but the road surface on Berthoud Pass is covered with a bit of snow). Monday morning’s clouds should gradually break up during the day, and temperatures should rise into the upper 30s.

Tuesday will be another dry day with partly sunny skies and temperatures again rising into the low-to-mid-40s.

The next storm will bring snow to Colorado from Tuesday night through Friday night. This good news is that this storm will move slowly and it will bring a lot of moisture, so we could see snow for three days. The not-so-good news is that the first two days of the storm will bring winds from the south, which are not favorable for big snow here in the northern mountains of Colorado.

The first wave of snow should drop a few inches on Wednesday, though temperatures will be warm, so the snow will likely be thicker and wetter.

The next wave of snow should move through on Thursday. Again, another few inches of snow may accumulate. Temperatures will be colder so the snow should be a little fluffier.

And snow showers could last through Friday, with snow ending on Friday night.

My initial thought is that total accumulations should be in the 4-10 inch range. This could go higher if we get lucky and a band of intense snow happens to track over the mountain.

Following this storm, the weekend of November 23-24 should be dry and sunny.

Then we’ll have a chance for multiple colder storms during the week of Thanksgiving and likely into early December. This is good news and I’ll keep you updated as the time gets closer.
