Winter Park Daily Snow

Back on the storm train at Winter Park
Summary
On Friday and Friday evening we saw more snow than I expected. Now on Saturday, expect a storm with snow for most of the day through early evening. Sunday and early Monday will be dry, then additional storms are likely next Tuesday and Friday.
Short Term Forecast
It feels SO GOOD to be back on the storm train. There are flakes in the air, fresh snow on the ground, and more snow in the forecast. Yes. This is what we love about winter!
On Friday we saw snow showers during the day with about 3 inches of accumulation, then more snow fell on Friday night with 4 inches on the mid-mountain snow stake by Saturday morning. This 7-inch total over 24 hours was more than I expected, especially the 4 inches on Friday night. Upside surprises are good!
During the day on Saturday expect snow for most of the daylight hours and this snow will extend into the evening. We should see 3-7 inches of accumulation with the snow ending by late Saturday night. The best time to enjoy soft snow should be Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning should also be soft.
Sunday and Monday morning will then be dry and offer a short break between storms.
The next system should bring snow starting sometime on Monday midday or afternoon and snow should continue through Tuesday midday. I’ll keep my forecast around 3-6 inches for this system though it could go higher.
Extended Forecast
The good (snowy) news will continue through the longer-range forecast.
Following drier weather on Wednesday into Thursday, the next storm should bring snow around Friday, December 18th.
After that, the weekend of December 19-20 should be dry.
Then during the week of Christmas, there is a high chance for stormy weather and more snow. I cannot offer specifics at this point since we’re still 7-10+ days away from Christmas week, but all forecast models are trending toward a stormy forecast for the Rockies and that should mean good news for us.
