Next Winter Park storm Tuesday into Wednesday
Summary
The weather from Thursday through Monday will be mostly dry and comfortable with high temperatures in the 20s. Our next chance for significant snow will be from Tuesday into Wednesday, January 5-6.
Short Term Forecast
Thursday is starting about 10-15°F warmer than Wednesday with temperatures in the teens, and readings will rise into the 20s. During the day on Thursday and through Thursday night, a weak storm will be breaking apart as it moves near Colorado, so expect some clouds and maybe some snow showers, but any accumulations will be light or possibly zero.
Friday, Saturday, and Sunday should be dry days with some sun, maybe some clouds, and comfortable temperatures rising into the 20s.
On Sunday night into Monday morning, a storm brushing northern Colorado could bring us anything from flurries to maybe a bit of accumulating snow. Nothing to get too excited about, but flakes are good even if there are just a few of them.
Extended Forecast
Our next chance for a more significant storm will be from Tuesday into Wednesday, January 5-6. The trend in the forecast is not favorable as the latest outlooks show this storm moving through Colorado in a more weakened state. We’ll keep an eye on it, of course, and for now, there is still a decent chance for soft turns either later Tuesday or early Wednesday.
Toward the end of next week, there could be another storm between Thursday and Friday, January 7-8. Again, the latest models are showing signs that this storm could weaken as it moves past Colorado. Bah! Let’s hope the system sticks together.
Then from Saturday, January 9 through Wednesday, January 13, additional storms should move close to or over Colorado, but as I’ve been mentioning, it’s far too soon to get excited about these systems. I am encouraged that at least we are seeing an active pattern, but we could really use some luck to translate this active pattern into storms that bring a lot of snow rather than dribs and drabs and lighter amounts.
Hopefully, tomorrow’s forecast update has a more favorable trend and keeps these upcoming storms on the stronger side.
Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
