Springtime returns to Winter Park

Summary

Wednesday will be a mixed day with some sun, some clouds, and maybe a shower. Then Thursday, Friday, and Saturday will be warm and sunny. Snow should return on Saturday night or Sunday.

Short Term Forecast

On Tuesday afternoon and evening, a period of snow showers dropped about 3 inches of accumulation across the mountain, and this means that there will be a little bit of powder to enjoy on Wednesday morning.

During the day on Wednesday, we could see all types of weather with some sunshine, some clouds, and perhaps a snow shower especially during the middle of the day and during the afternoon.

On Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, we will transition back to the feeling of spring with dry weather, more sunshine, and high temperatures in the 30s and 40s. Snow conditions will be firm and crunchy in the morning then softer and slushy by the afternoon.

Extended Forecast

I am still expecting a stormy period starting around Saturday night, March 20-21, and continuing through at least Friday, March 26, and perhaps extending into the following weekend. All forecast models continue to show multiple storms tracking toward or through Colorado during this time, but it is still too early to pinpoint if and when we will see the deeper snow totals. We will figure out next week’s pattern, though it’ll likely take a few more days to dial it in.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
