Some Fluff on Friday

Summary

Snow fell on Thursday night and snow showers will continue through at least the first half of Friday.

Update

On Thursday, terrain in Mary Jane opened for the season. Yay!

And for the storm on Thursday night, the forecast for 1-4 inches of snow on Thursday night into Friday morning is working out on the lower end. The mid-mountain snow stake shows maybe up to 1 inch of fluff as of 500am on Friday morning.

The snow on Friday morning is light and fluffy thanks to cold temperatures and light-to-moderate winds. It should be a fun morning to ride a little bit of fluffy snow on top of groomers.

During the day on Friday, expect snow showers to continue off-and-on through the late morning and maybe into midday with another coating to 2 inches of accumulation. Temperatures will be chilly, in the single digits and the teens.

For Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, we'll see dry weather and mostly sunny skies. Saturday will be chilly with highs in the teens and low 20s, then Sunday through Wednesday will be warmer with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s.

It still looks like the next stormy will begin on or around Thursday, December 23rd with chances for storms through the end of the year. The weather pattern during this time is not a perfect setup for big snow in Colorado, but at least there will be multiple chances for snow, and perhaps we'll get lucky with one or two significant storms. Even if we see just a handful of weak or moderate storms, that should deliver enough snow to open a decent amount of additional terrain during the final 5-7 days of December.

Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!

PS – The significant changes to OpenSnow that I've talked about for the last week just went live on Thursday night (Dec 16). You'll see the changes now on our website and rolling out in the latest iOS and Android updates during the next day or two. If you're an All-Access subscriber (thank you!), you'll see no changes. If you are not an All-Access subscriber, here is an FAQ with more details about the upcoming changes, and we hope that eventually, we'll earn your support.

Here is a 3-minute video that I made (with my son Levi) to introduce a few of the upcoming changes. Please watch the video to at least see what Levi has to say to everyone at the end (non of this was scripted/rehearsed and I'm surprised it worked out!).
