Winter Park Daily Snow

Heads up, there may be fresher snow! Read the latest Winter Park Daily Snow

Cautiously optimistic

Summary

The weather will be dry through Wednesday, then snow will arrive on Thursday and may continue through the end of December.

Update

Saturday was a lovely day to be on the hill with sunny skies, cool temperatures in the teens, and more open terrain (now about 24% of trails are open).

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be simple weather days – dry, mostly sunny, and comfortable temperatures rising into the 20s and low 30s.

The change in our weather should begin on Wednesday night into Thursday morning. We'll see snow starting then with periods of intense snow into Friday and then snow could wane on Saturday. This first wave of snow from Thursday through Friday could deliver 5-10 inches with the best powder maybe on Friday into Saturday morning. That 5-10 inch range is an early estimate and subject to change. I just wanted to signal that a significant storm is likely on the way. While the incoming storm will be strong, the wind directions from the southwest, west-southwest, and west are not the best for Winter Park, so while I am excited about this next storm, I also want to be realistic.

After Saturday, we'll continue to see chances for snow each day from December 26 through maybe the end of the month, but I have very little confidence in the timing of any periods of more intense snow during these days.

The overall message is good news! We should close out the last nine days of December with snow nearly every day and we will likely see a lot more terrain open by the end of the month if not sooner.

Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!

By the way…

The significant changes to OpenSnow that I've talked about for the last week are now live. If you're an All-Access subscriber (thank you!), you'll see no changes. If you are not an All-Access subscriber, here is an FAQ with more details about the upcoming changes, and we hope that eventually, we'll earn your support. Also, you can watch 2-3 minute videos about these changes made by myself, our Tahoe forecaster BA, and our Utah forecaster Evan. And finally, check out our Utah forecaster Evan's Twitter thread showing exactly how he uses OpenSnow's All-Access features to track powder.
