Powder Party through Saturday

Summary

Thursday will bring just light snow, then on Thursday night and Friday, expect a lot more snow with powder on Friday and also on Saturday morning.

Update

More snow is in the forecast...let's get to it!

Wednesday

On Wednesday, we saw a LOT more snow than expected with 7 inches during the day and another 1 inch on Wednesday night. I tried to figure out why we saw so much more snow on Wednesday than I expected, and I have no idea. Chalk it up to some atmospheric tricks and a welcome high-side surprise!

Thursday

I have low confidence in the forecast. I think we won't see much snow, just a couple of inches or maybe less, but we'll see. Temperatures are in the teens and conditions are soft and delightful.

Thursday Night – Saturday Morning

This will be a fun period with a lot of snow and plenty of powder. On Thursday night, snow will start, then on Friday midday snow should be intense, and then on Friday afternoon and evening, snow should stick around. The best powder will be all day on Friday and also, if we see some 'extra' snow on Friday evening thanks to a favorable wind direction and favorable temperatures, Saturday morning should also be very fun and fluffy.

Total snowfall should be 12-18 inches. Enjoy Friday and maybe Saturday morning, too, and dress warmly, as Friday's temperatures will be in the single digits and Saturday will be very cold with readings around 0°F.

Sunday, Monday, Tuesday

We'll see dry weather, sunshine, and warmer temperatures in the teens and 20s.

Wednesday & Beyond

More snow is possible though I am not yet certain if the majority of the snow will stay to our north or if it will track directly over northern Colorado. Stay tuned!

Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!

PS – The significant changes to OpenSnow that I've talked about for the last week are now live. If you're an All-Access subscriber (thank you!), you'll see no changes. If you are not an All-Access subscriber, here is an FAQ with more details about the upcoming changes, and we hope that eventually, we'll earn your support. Also, you can watch 2-3 minute videos about these changes made by myself, our Tahoe forecaster BA, and our Utah forecaster Evan. And finally, check out our Utah forecaster Evan's Twitter thread showing exactly how he uses OpenSnow's All-Access features to track powder.
