Snow continues through Friday!

Summary

Wednesday morning will offer soft turns thanks to continued snow on Tuesday and Tuesday night.

Update

Tuesday afternoon delivered 4 inches of fluffy snow, and then on Tuesday night, an additional 3 inches of fluff accumulated at mid-mountain.

Wednesday

The first turns of the morning will be soft and delicious thanks to the new snow on Tuesday night.

For the rest of the day on Wednesday, I continue to have low confidence in the forecast, but my best estimate is that any snow on Wednesday morning will wane and we'll see drier weather on Wednesday afternoon. Temperatures will be chilly, in the single digits and teens.

Thursday – Saturday

On Wednesday night into Thursday morning, I am not sure what will happen – maybe the dry weather continues, or maybe light snow returns.

From Thursday midday through Thursday evening, snow should ramp up in intensity.

Then from Thursday night through Friday, we will see intense snow. There should be excellent powder for Friday's first chair with free powder refills during the day on Friday.

Snow will then wane on Friday night and end by Saturday morning or midday. On Friday night, there is a chance that we see a pop of additional snowfall thanks to a favorable wind from the north-northwest or north.

Total snowfall during the Thursday-to-Saturday timeframe should be 10-20 inches. My fingers are crossed in the hope that the powder will be super fun on Friday and maybe on Saturday morning, too.

For temperatures, they will be in the teens on Thursday and Friday and then very cold, near 0°F, on Saturday.

Longer Range

The sun will return and we will see dry and warmer weather from Sunday, January 2 through Tuesday, January 4. Then we should get back into the flow with storms starting on or around Wednesday, January 5. Snow could continue through Sunday, January 9th, and maybe even beyond.

Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!

If you are not an All-Access subscriber, here is an FAQ with more details about the upcoming changes, and we hope that eventually, we'll earn your support. Also, you can watch 2-3 minute videos about these changes made by myself, our Tahoe forecaster BA, and our Utah forecaster Evan. And finally, check out our Utah forecaster Evan's Twitter thread showing exactly how he uses OpenSnow's All-Access features to track powder.
