Tuesday powder and more on the way

Summary

Snow ramped up on Monday night and now Tuesday morning will offer freshies. Then snow will likely fall every day for the rest of the week.

Update

Monday brought little to no snow, and then on Monday night, the atmospheric snow machine turned on delivering 4 inches at mid-mountain That was at the low end of my 4-8 inch forecast, but at least it snowed and refreshed the mountain.

Tuesday & Wednesday

I continue to have low confidence in the forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday. The most likely outcome is that we'll see intermittent light snow and little accumulation. But there is a chance for more than this, too. Overall, conditions should stay soft and fun during these days. Temperatures will range from the single digits into the teens – it'll be chilly.

Thursday – Saturday

Snow could ramp back up sometime on Wednesday night or Thursday, then I expect intense snow between Thursday night and Saturday morning. Total snowfall should be 8-16 inches and maybe more. The best powder will likely be during the day on Friday and then again for Saturday morning's first chair. Temperatures during this storm will continue to be chilly with mostly single digits and teens on Thursday and Friday and very cold temperatures on Saturday with readings around 0°F.

Longer Range

The sun will return and we will see dry and warmer weather from Sunday, January 2 through Tuesday, January 4. Then a storm (or storms) will come back into the forecast between Wednesday, January 5, and Tuesday, January 11. I have low confidence in the details of when and how snow will come back to Colorado, but I do have medium to high confidence that it will happen during this time period.

Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!

If you are not an All-Access subscriber, here is an FAQ with more details about the upcoming changes, and we hope that eventually, we'll earn your support. Also, you can watch 2-3 minute videos about these changes made by myself, our Tahoe forecaster BA, and our Utah forecaster Evan. And finally, check out our Utah forecaster Evan's Twitter thread showing exactly how he uses OpenSnow's All-Access features to track powder.
