A week of snow

Summary

We saw snow on Sunday and Sunday night and there will be freshies to enjoy on Monday morning. Plus more snow will fall this week!

Update

Sunday's snowfall was (surprisingly to me) mostly a dud with just about 2 inches during the day. But then the atmosphere turned it on with 6 inches of fluffy snow on Sunday night, and we hit the high end of our 4-8 inch forecast range!

Monday Morning

Thanks to this snowfall on Sunday night, there will be fresh turns for Monday's first chair. Enjoy the snow and dress warmly as temperatures will be in the upper single digits and low teens. Weatherwise, we'll likely see a lull in the snowfall on Monday morning, but some flakes could be floating around.

Monday Afternoon – Tuesday Midday

Thanks to a cold front moving through, expect another round of snow with the most intense snowfall later Monday night into Tuesday morning. Tuesday morning should be the best time for powder with 4-8 inches of accumulation.

Wednesday & Thursday

I'm not sure. We could see some snow but I still have low confidence. I am keeping my expectations low.

Friday & Saturday

The final significant storm of our stormy period will move through on Friday into Saturday. Snow should start Thursday night or Friday morning, and we could see the most intense snow from Friday afternoon into Saturday morning. Snow totals should be significant and my early estimate is in the 6-12 inch range. The best powder may be during the day on Friday and likely even better on Saturday morning.

Longer Range

We should see dry weather from Sunday, January 2 through Tuesday, January 4. Then a storm (or storms) should return on or after Wednesday, January 5.

Thanks for reading and please check back each morning for daily updates!

PS – The significant changes to OpenSnow that I've talked about for the last week are now live. If you're an All-Access subscriber (thank you!), you'll see no changes. If you are not an All-Access subscriber, here is an FAQ with more details about the upcoming changes, and we hope that eventually, we'll earn your support. Also, you can watch 2-3 minute videos about these changes made by myself, our Tahoe forecaster BA, and our Utah forecaster Evan. And finally, check out our Utah forecaster Evan's Twitter thread showing exactly how he uses OpenSnow's All-Access features to track powder.
