It snowed, a lot:-)

Summary

We saw a surprisingly high amount of snow during the day on Tuesday and also on Tuesday night, so there will be deep powder conditions now on Wednesday. And there will also be additional snow showers through Wednesday night.

Update

Tuesday delivered a surprisingly high amount of snow during the morning with 8 inches of accumulation, and then on Tuesday night, we saw another surprisingly high amount of snow with 8 inches of additional accumulation. This brings our total 24-hour accumulation to about 16 inches at mid-mountain and means that Wednesday morning will offer deep, fluffy powder.

This upside surprise happened due to the perfect combination of two storm centers swirling across Colorado which delivered a favorable wind from the northwest and north-northwest.

Now on Wednesday morning, we are seeing a break in the storm with light or no snow falling, and conditions first thing in the morning should be glorious powder. The temperature on Wednesday will be chilly with a high in the teens, though any breaks of sunshine could quickly turn the new, fluffy snow into a spring mush, especially on east and south-facing slopes.

From Wednesday midday to Wednesday night, a final round of snow showers will form and move across Colorado. This could lead to anything from a dusting of new snow to 5+ inches if a few stronger cells hit the mountain.

From Thursday, April 6 to Thursday, April 13, we will see one week of spring weather. These eight days should be dry, mostly sunny, and warm with high temperatures in the 20s on Thursday, in the 30s on Friday and Saturday, and then in the 40s and 50s from Sunday to Thursday, April 13. The warmest days will likely be Monday and Tuesday, and the cloudiest day could be Saturday, April 8.

Between Friday, April 14 to Sunday, April 16, we should see the next storm move close to or over Colorado. It is normal that snow will continue to fall through mid-April, but before this next chance for flakes, we'll enjoy a lengthy period of dry and warm spring weather.
