Sunday powder, with more on the way
Summary
The storm arrived on Saturday night with 6 inches falling by Sunday at 4 am. We'll see additional snow on Sunday, Sunday night, and maybe into Monday morning as well.
Update
Saturday Night
On Saturday night, the storm arrived and delivered intense snow starting around midnight. As of 4 am, the mid-mountain snow stake showed 6 inches and it's still snowing.
Sunday
The powder in the morning looks slightly dense and may do a nice job covering the harder base surface. During the morning, snow could continue for a few more hours, there could be a lull in the snow later in the morning, then during the midday and afternoon, we could see snow intensify as the cold front moves back to the north. I have low confidence in the snow forecast, though I'll estimate 2-5+ inches during the daylight hours. The high temperature will be in the teens.
Sunday Night
On Sunday night, snow should continue, with amounts of 2-8 inches, and totals will depend on the exact location of the more intense bands of snow along the cold front. Again, I have low confidence in the details of the forecast.
Monday
On Monday, there should be powder in the morning due to the snow on Sunday night, and snowfall could wane during the morning and during the day as the storm tries to move away (some storm energy will linger over Colorado). The high temperature will be in the teens.
Tuesday & Wednesday
On Tuesday and Wednesday, unorganized storm energy will cross Colorado from west to east and this should generate additional snow. I also have low confidence in this part of the forecast, and I'll estimate a broad range of 2-6+ inches as the snow total across Tuesday and Wednesday. The high temperature will be in the 20's.
Thursday & Friday
On Thursday and Friday, a more organized storm will move across Colorado, though it may track too far to the south to put us in the crosshairs for the most snow. We could see a few additional inches of snow on these days with high temperatures in the low 20s.
Saturday & Sunday (March 9-10)
I think that Saturday and Sunday will be dry with high temperatures in the 20s to low 30s.
Next Week (March 11-15)
Additional waves of storm energy should track close to or over Colorado, so we should see more snow. Again, though, I have low confidence in the details, so we'll figure it out as the time gets closer.
My next update will be Monday morning.
