February 2024 Snowpack Update

Following a very slow start to the 23-24 winter season, our snowpack across the Western US has steadily made a comeback. Most watersheds in Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado are now sitting near or above the 30-year normal.

The map below shows the percentage of snowpack compared to the 1991-2020 median snowpack for February 15, 2024. Red is well below average, yellow and green are below to near average, and blue/purple is well above average.

This map is based on the weight of the snow on the ground, measured by automated backcountry weather stations called SNOTEL.
