WATCH: The FIFTY - Aemmer Couloir

A last minute decision to go to a place not known for mid-winter steep skiing descents takes Cody Townsend and crew to the Rocky Mountains of Canada. Yet getting there is half the battle with sketchy highways, cold early mornings, and a 13 km (8 miles) walk just to get to the base of the infamously beautiful Aemmer Couloir in Banff National Park.

'The FIFTY' is a project to climb and ski all 50 lines chronicled in the book, "The Fifty Classic Descents of North America". Over the next three years, Cody Townsend will be chronicling the adventures, challenges, and travels as he takes on a collection of the most aesthetic, spectacular, and hardest lines in North America.

Line #1: Messner Couloir

Line #3: Terminal Cancer

Line #4: Hypodermic Needle
