Deep Powder Wednesday, Then Settled & Dry

Summary

A proper snowstorm arrived after recent wind and rain, bringing solid snowfall from late Tuesday through the night. Snow will continue through Wednesday, with totals of 30–50 cm in NSW, 20–40 cm in Victoria, and around 15 cm at Mt Baw Baw. The weekend looks great with perfect conditions for hitting the slopes.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for Wednesday 25th June

Heavy snow will slowly taper off throughout Wednesday, clearing by evening as strong northwest winds shift to the west and then southwest. Conditions will remain challenging, with blizzard-like weather likely causing lift closures once more.

Forecast for Thursday 26th to Sunday 29th June

On Thursday, skies will be mostly overcast, particularly around Mt Baw Baw, where a few morning snow flurries may linger. Southerly winds will be brisk but gradually ease. Friday brings mostly clear conditions with gentle southerly breezes and some cloud near Mt Baw Baw. Saturday will be bright and sunny with light northwest winds, followed by a calm and mostly clear day on Sunday.

Extended Forecast

Next week should be largely dry, but a low-pressure system over the Tasman is expected to bring a cold southerly flow from Tuesday to Thursday, helping to keep the snow machines running. Then, northwest winds are likely to increase heading into the weekend.

Thanks for reading. The next forecast will be out early Wednesday.
