Update

At 7am Tuesday morning one inch of new snow has fallen overnight at the Challenger snow stake with cloudy skies over Lone Mountain and a temperature of 23 degrees in the village. For today expect cloudy skies during the morning hours with sunny breaks in the clouds by early afternoon and a high temperature of 31 degrees at 8000’. Moderate West/SW winds of 18-22mph with gusts up to 32mph will be felt today on the ridge tops and alpine areas.

Snow showers will be in the forecast Wednesday morning with no accumulations expected. The rest of the day looks to be a mix of clouds and sun with gusty SW winds up to 40mph with a high of 32 at 8000’. A warming trend with sunny skies and daytime highs rising into the mid to upper 30’s (8000’) will be the story for Thursday and Friday. Clouds slowly increase through the day on Saturday with a high of 40 degrees at 8000’. Snow then develops in advance of a cold front Saturday night into Sunday but details on this system are still too hazy at this point in time. Stay tuned...
