Powder Tuesday

Summary

5” overnight on Andesite and 4” at Headwaters will make the normally mundane Tuesday morning that much more special. West winds are and will be blowing at 15-20mph with 25mph gusts. Temps will also be dropping into the mid-teens through the day. Another wave late Wednesday night into Thursday could bring and additional 3-6”. Things then dry out Friday into the weekend.

Today:

At 7:00AM it’s 25 degrees in the Village and 18 degrees at the top of Andesite Mountain (at 8800’). 5” of new snow fell overnight at Andesite stake and 4” at Headwaters. Skies are currently cloudy with flurries over both Lone and Andesite Mountains. West winds at the top of Andesite are currently blowing at 13mph with gusts to 29mph.  

Today expect a mix of early morning flurries, then partial clearing shortly after first chair. Skies will clear off enough by 11am for partly sunny skies for the rest of the day. Moderate West winds will be blowing at 20mph with gusts to 25mph across those wind prone areas. Temps will be falling through the day as the cold air (from the cold front) moves through with high temperatures at 8900’ this afternoon falling to around 17 degrees.  

Extended Forecast:

A brief break in the action Wednesday with mostly sunny skies with moderate south winds and a high of 23 degrees before another area of low-pressure invades Wednesday night into Thursday. Most of the snow will fall Thursday morning with 3-6” totals possible through last chair. High-pressure then builds in for a dry and sunny Friday through Sunday.
