High-Pressure Brings Back the Sun

Summary

2” fell since yesterday’s post and with Dakota lift now open and the sun in the forecast, Friday should be an awesome day to hit the mountain. A weak cold-front moves in tonight with a stray flurry or two but no accumulations are expected. High-pressure now looks dominate the region until Tuesday at least. The next system is expected for Wednesday with light snow amounts possible.

Update

Today:

At 7:00AM it’s 17 degrees in the Village and 14 degrees at the top of Andesite Mountain (at 8800’). 2” of snow fell in the last 24-hours. Skies are currently cloudy with some clearing occurring over both Lone and Andesite Mountains. East winds at the top of Andesite are currently blowing lightly at 2mph with gusts to 5mph.

Today expect partly sunny skies with a high temperature (at 8900’) of 23 degrees. South/SE winds will be blowing lightly at 10 mph.

Extended Forecast:

A bit of a dry-out is (unfortunately) in store for the next 4-days as a strong ridge of high-pressure builds into the region bringing back sunny forecasts for Saturday through next Tuesday. One exception, Saturday morning will have lingering clouds from a dry cold front that moves through Friday night. Daytime high temps (at 8900’) will stick around the 20 degrees mark over the weekend warming a few more degrees early next week.
