Wild and Windy Wednesday
Summary
A High Wind Warning is effect today for SW winds blowing steady at 35-45mph with gusts up to 60mph. A cold front will interact with residual moisture riding over the Divide with 2-4” possible through the afternoon hours. Thursday through Saturday look dry with partly sunny skies. Snow returns to the forecast Sunday and Monday.

Today:
At 7:00AM it’s 24 degrees in the Village and 30 degrees at the top of Andesite Mountain (at 8800’). No new snow fell overnight. Skies are currently cloudy over both Lone and Andesite Mountains. SW winds at the top of Andesite are currently blowing at 10mph with gusts to 31mph. Expect that to amp up through the morning.
Today expect a very breezy day with sustained winds 35-45mph with gusts this afternoon up to 60mph. Be aware of the potentials for lift wind holds when making plans today. Skies will be cloudy this morning with snow developing by late morning with 2-4” likely falling through last chair. It will be a wild afternoon of weather with temperatures (at 8900’) plummeting from 32 degrees around noon to 15 degrees at last chair (4pm).
Extended Forecast:
High pressure rebuilds for dry and mostly sunny skies Thursday through Saturday. High temps at 8900’ will be (chilly 14 on Thursday slowing rising each day into the weekend. On Sunday a disturbance will start affecting the region bringing better chances of measurable snow into MLK Monday holiday. The latest weather model runs have made Monday’s storm system look somewhat impressive. Stay tuned!
