Tiny Refresh / Sun Returns for the Weekend

Summary

We all hoped for more but all we got was an inch. We’ll take it. This weekend looks mostly sunny with below average daytime temperatures. The dryness continues into early next week as well. According to the NRCS who keeps tabs on river basin snowpacks, the Gallatin Basin (Big Sky & vicinity) snowpack is at 79% of average. We still have plenty of time to catch up...

Update

Today:  

At 7:00AM it’s 18 degrees in the Village and 15 degrees at the top of Andesite Mountain (at 8800’). 1 inch of new snow was reported in the last 24-hours. Skies are currently cloudy over both Lone and Andesite Mountains. Light NW winds at the top of Andesite are currently blowing at 2mph with a recent gust to 5mph.  

Today expect a few morning flurries but generally a mostly cloudy day across Big Sky. High temperatures across mid to upper mountain locations (9000’) will be around 20 degrees by mid-afternoon. Light West/SW winds will be at 7-10mph.  

Extended Forecast:

The sun returns on Saturday and Sunday but with colder air that looks to bring daytime highs to around 16-18 degrees at 8900’on both days. Look for a dry forecast of partly sunny skies for the period of Monday through Wednesday with cold daytime high temps (9000’) of 14-16 degrees.
