Powder Wednesday
Summary
Overnight, 4 fresh inches fell, bringing the 24-hour snowfall to 8 inches. This storm system has now dropped 17” of cold smokey pow since President’s Day morning. A Canadian cold front is advancing through SW Montana so plan on colder temps today than Tuesday with another 1 to 3 inches. As the colder air establishes Wednesday night look for chances of another 1 to 2 inches into Thursday morning.

Today:
At 7:00AM it’s 15 degrees in the Village and 8 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. 8 inches of new snow fell in the last 24 hours, 4 inches overnight. Currently the skies are cloudy with light snow falling over Lone and Andesite mountains. At Andesite Mountain at 8800’ winds are currently blowing out of the West/NW at 10 mph with a recent gust to 24 mph.
Today expect light snow to fall through the day in varying intensities with moderate W/NW winds creating cold wind chills along with blowing and drifting snow in the alpine areas and ridge tops. Snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are likely by last chair at 4pm. Mountain temperatures will be chillier than Tuesday with high temperatures across mid to upper mountain locations (9000’) from 11 to 13 degrees above zero. West winds will be blowing at 10-15 mph with an occasional ridgetop gust to 25 mph. Wind chills Wednesday morning could get as low as 10 below.
Extended Forecast:
Snow showers continue into Wednesday night with chances of an additional 1 to 2 inches. A brief break for a sunny and dry Thursday with a high temperature of 15 above (@ 9000’) before snow returns Friday with around 1 to 2 inches likely. Unsettled weather on an active NW flow with chances of snow daily look to be in store for Saturday and Sunday along with seasonal daytime temperatures. Daily chances of snow continue into early next week with slightly colder temps expected.
