Dry and Breezy Sunday

Summary

A couple of fresh inches overnight will freshen up the surfaces for a fun Sunday on the mountain. Besides the great conditions, Sunday will be a tad breezy with west/SW winds to 35 mph up on the ridges. Mostly cloudy skies with seasonable temps round it off. Next snowfall is expected Monday night into Tuesday via a strong cold front that should bring in 4 to 8 Inches by Tuesday evening.

Today:  

At 7:00AM it’s 15 degrees in the Village and 8 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. 3 inches of new snow fell in the last 24 hours, 2 of it since the lifts closed yesterday. Currently the skies are cloudy over Lone and Andesite mountains. At Andesite Mountain at 8800’ winds are currently blowing out of the West at 8 mph with a recent gust to 20 mph.

Today expect a breezy and mostly cloudy day with a few breaks of sunshine possible as well. West/SW Winds will be felt across the upper terrain blowing at 17 to 22 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Mountain high temperatures across mid to upper mountain locations (at 9000’) will be around 20 degrees.

Extended Forecast:

Monday will be a mix of clouds and sunny spells but very windy across the high terrain with sustained West/SW winds of 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Temps Monday will continue to be slightly above seasonal averages. A cold front arrives Monday night triggering periods of snow with 2 to 4 inches likely by early Tuesday morning. Tuesday looks to bring off and on snow showers with another 2 to 4 inches likely by last chair with daytime temps at 9000’ back into the mid teens. Cloudy, cold and snow showery weather will be around on Wednesday and Thursday. A bigger wave of moisture rides through Thursday night into Friday that brings back chances of measurable snow.
