Windy Powdery Tuesday

Summary

Overnight, 4 windblown inches fell since lifts closed that should make for a powdery (and drifty) Tuesday. Strong west winds and another inch or two will help refresh tracks every run today. A break in the action Wednesday with sunny and dry conditions will be short ordered as a return to snowy, and unsettled skies return Thursday through Saturday. The sun returns for a sunny and cold Sunday.

Update

Today:

At 7:00AM it’s 24 degrees in the Village and 15 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. 4 inches of new snow were reported in the last 24 hours at Headwaters snow stake and 2 inches at the Andesite stake. Currently the skies are cloudy with light snow falling and blowing over Lone and Andesite mountains. At Andesite Mountain at 8800’ winds are currently blowing out of the West at 12 mph with a recent gust to 27 mph.

Today expect a breezy and cloudy day with strong West winds across the upper terrain blowing at 20 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph. Mountain high temperatures across mid to upper mountain locations (at 9000’) will be much cooler day at around 18 degrees. Make sure to check for upper mountain lift status before heading out to your favorite alpine area lift for any wind holds.

Extended Forecast:

A mix of some sun and clouds, colder daytime temps and even a few flurries will be the likely story for Wednesday and Thursday. A weak wave of moisture rides through Thursday night and Friday bringing light snow with 1 to 3 inches likely. Cloudy skies with snow flurries look to be the forecast for Saturday with continued cold daytime temps with a high of 12 above at 9000’. Sunny skies look to be on tap for Sunday along with slightly warmer daytime temps with a high near 20 across the upper terrain.

Powder Out –
