Transition Saturday

Summary

Clouds will hang around through early afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds through the rest of the day. South winds will be gusty across the alpine areas gusting to 40 mph. High temps across the upper mountain (9000’) will be around 35 degrees by 11am then slowly drop as a cold front moves in. Sunday, mostly sunny and colder. Monday night into Tuesday, snow returns with 3 - 6 inches likely.

Today:  

At 7:00AM it’s 23 degrees in the Village and 25 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. No new snow fell in the past 24-hours. Currently the skies are mostly cloudy over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite are blowing from the SE at 8 mph with a recent gust to 14 mph.

Today expect mostly cloudy skies with a few sunny spells in the early to mid afternoon hours. Expect gusty south winds in the alpine terrain, especially this afternoon when the cold front passes. High temperatures across the upper mountain locations (at 9000’) will be around 35 degrees by 11AM then slowly drop through the afternoon hours to around 29 by 4pm. Winds will be blowing out of the South at 15 to 20 mph with afternoon gusts to 40 mph.  

Extended Forecast:

Saturday night, a few snow showers could bring in trace amounts to an inch by Sunday morning. Cooler air filters in on Sunday along with mostly sunny skies with highs at 9000’ of around 30 degrees. Monday, clouds increase along with SW winds as the next system arrives during the afternoon hours along with a few flurries. Monday night, light snow with 1 to 3 inches likely by first chair Tuesday. Snow will continue into Tuesday with another 2 to 4 inches possible with a high of 24 at 9000’. W/SW winds will be moderate. Snow showers continue Tuesday night and Wednesday with trace amounts likely. High-pressure is now expected to build in for a sunny Thursday and Friday.
