Weak Systems to Bring Light Amounts

Summary

After a sunny start, clouds will be on the increase Monday afternoon with light snow starting during the late afternoon hours. A weaking wave of moisture on a SW flow looks to bring a few inches Monday night, with another wave on Tuesday with similar results with a possible third wave Tuesday night with another inch or two. High-pressure moves in mid-week and stays into the weekend.

Update

Today:

At 7:00AM it’s 22 degrees in the Village and 22 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. No new snow fell in the past 24-hours. Currently the skies are mostly clear over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite are blowing from the East at 4 mph with a recent gust to 7 mph.

Today expect mostly sunny skies during the morning hours with increasing clouds beginning around noon with snow flurries developing during the mid to late afternoon hours. Snow level will be around 8000’ wit no accumulations expected. High temperatures across the upper mountain locations (at 9000’) will be around 36 degrees. Winds will be blowing lightly out of the South/SE this morning and switching to the S/SW this afternoon at 10 to 15 mph with afternoon gusts to 25 mph.

Extended Forecast:

Monday night, light snow with 1 to 2 inches likely overnight. Tuesday, a mix of clouds, sun and intermittent flurries could bring another inch with a high of 24 at 9000’. W/SW winds will be moderate. Snow showers continue Tuesday night with another inch possible. Wednesday looks to be a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 21 at 9000’. High-pressure is now expected to build in for another string of sunny days Thursday through Sunday. Weather models are indicating a rather large area of low pressure moving into the Northern Rockies late Sunday into Monday which is our next best chance for appreciable snow.
