Summary
SW flow will transport narrow bands of moisture into SW Montana that will generate hit and miss variety snow showers through the day Tuesday. 2 inches have fallen already (7AM) and another inch or two are possible through the day. Temps across the upper terrain will be colder, with highs around 20 degrees with moderate SW winds. High-pressure moves in on Thursday and stays through the weekend.

Today:
At 7:00AM it’s 24 degrees in the Village and 15 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. 2 inches of new snow fell in the past 24-hours. Currently the skies are cloudy with moderate snow falling over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite are blowing from the SW at 6 mph with a recent gust to 17 mph.
Today expect on and off snow showers through the day with another inch or two likely. In between the snow showers, sunny spells will be mixed in with the clouds. High temperatures across the upper mountain locations (at 9000’) will be around 21 degrees. Winds will be blowing lightly out of the SW at 10 to 15 mph with afternoon gusts to 25 mph.
Extended Forecast:
Snow showers return on Wednesday with another inch or two possible with a high of 19 at 9000’. High-pressure is now expected to build in for another string of sunny days Thursday through Sunday. Weather models are indicating a rather large area of low pressure moving into the Northern Rockies Sunday night into Monday which is our next best chance for appreciable snow.
