Chilly Morning, Afternoon Snow Showers

Summary

Another inch overnight will add to the 2 from yesterday softening things up just a bit. With the passing of the cold front, temps this morning are chilly with 10 degrees (8AM) at the top of Andesite chair. High temps across the alpine terrain will be around 20 degrees with light NW winds. High-pressure moves in on Thursday and stays through the weekend. Snow likely returns Monday and Tuesday.

Update

Today:

At 8:00AM it’s 9 degrees in the Village and 10 degrees at the 8800’ level of Andesite Mountain. 1 inch of new snow fell in the past 24-hours. Currently the skies are cloudy over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite are blowing from the NW at 4 mph with a recent gust to 7 mph.

Today expect cloudy skies during the morning hours with snow showers developing around noon and lasting, on and off, through the afternoon. Accumulations of an inch or two are likely. High temperatures across the upper mountain locations (at 9000’) will be around 19 degrees. Winds will be blowing lightly out of the NW at 5 to 10 mph.

Extended Forecast:

High-pressure is now expected to build in for another string of sunny days Thursday through Sunday. High temps at 9000’ will be around 25 on Thursday and around 30 on Friday. The weekend will be springy, with upper mountain high temps around 40 on Sunday. Weather models are still favoring the movement of a large trough of low pressure into the region on Monday bringing chances of measurable snow through Tuesday. Details on the tracking of this trough are inconsistent at this time but none the less, early next week will be colder with snow showers at the least.
