April Freeze

Summary

A light layer of fog is veiled over Lone Mountain as of 8am but clear blue skies are visible behind this layer. Expect the fog to burn off before 10am for a mostly sunny and cold Tuesday with highs across the upper terrain barely hitting 20 degrees. A weakening disturbance moves through Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning that may drop an inch or two.

Today:                                               

At 7:00AM it’s 9 degrees in the Village and 5 degrees at the 8850’ level of Andesite Mountain. No new snow fell in the last 24-hours. Currently the skies are clear with a light fog over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite (8850’) are out of the E/NE at 4 mph with a recent gust to 7 mph. Current will chill at the top of Andesite chair is 3 below zero.  

Today, mostly sunny skies with continued below average temperatures. Northeast winds of 10 to 15 mph with ridgetop gusts to 30 mph will make it seem like late February across the upper mountain. High temperatures at 9000’ will be around 20 degrees.

Extended Forecast:

Increasing clouds Wednesday with snow showers developing during the afternoon with a trace to an inch. Highs at 9K’ of 24 degrees. Snow showers continue Wednesday night for another trace to an inch. Thursday, cloudy with occasional flurries with highs (9K’) in the mid-20’s. Friday, mostly sunny skies and slightly warmer. The closing weekend is looking pretty good (sunny skies, warmer temperatures – both days) as high-pressure is progged to set up. Highs on Sunday across the upper terrain will reach into the low 40’s.
