Some Clouds, Some Flurries, Continued Cold

Summary

Off and on flurries moving in from the east will pepper the mountains Thursday, but are not expected to amount to much more than a trace. High-pressure then builds in strong Friday bringing sunny skies to the daily forecast Friday and Saturday. Things get interesting Sunday as a spring storm is progged to move in midday Sunday bringing bouts of heavy snow through the afternoon. Stay tuned.

Today:                                               

At 7:00AM it’s 20 degrees in the Village and 15 degrees at the 8850’ level of Andesite Mountain. No new snow fell in the last 24-hours. Currently the skies are cloudy with snow flurries falling over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite (8850’) are out of the North at 3 mph with a recent gust to 6 mph.

Today, mostly cloudy with occasional snow showers with a trace to an inch possible by last chair. Continued below average temperatures. High temperatures at 9000’ will be around 25 degrees. North/Northeast winds of 10 to 16 mph with ridgetop gusts to 28 mph.

Extended Forecast:

Friday, 20% chance of a few morning flurries, otherwise partly sunny skies and slightly warmer with a high of 30 at 9000’. The closing weekend is looking pretty good, sunny skies Saturday with highs around 36 (@9K’), and sunny skies in the morning Sunday with increasing clouds and snow, heavy at times during the afternoon hours with 1 to 3 inches possible. Highs at 9000’ will jump to around 42 degrees before falling into the 30’s by 3pm. Just a caveat, the timing of the storms arrival is still a bit inconsistent in the weather models, so stay tuned for daily updates.
