The Weekend Send Off Starts Sunny and Warm

Summary

Bluebirds will be singing loudly today under clear skies, light winds and mid-mountain temperatures in the low 40’s by early afternoon. Send off the season on Sunday under mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures until around 1pm when increasing clouds will cool things off slightly. A few snow showers could develop before the very last chair, but it certainly won’t dampen the festivities.

Update

Today:

At 7:00AM it’s 16 degrees in the Village and 19 degrees at the 8850’ level of Andesite Mountain. No new snow fell in the last 24-hours. Currently the skies are clear over Lone and Andesite mountains. Current winds at the top of Andesite (8850’) are out of the North at 3 mph with a recent gust to 6 mph.

Today, sunny and warm with high temperatures at 9000’ around 40 degrees. North winds of 5 to 10 mph with ridgetop gusts to 15 mph.

Sunday Forecast: Sunday’s farewell to the season will be a mostly sunny and warm affair until the early afternoon hours when increasing clouds in advance of a vigorous storm system will pull the shade over the sun. I don’t think it will stifle the mood however as the bulk of the precipitation will start falling after last chair but a few flakes and maybe a trace by 4pm is possible. Highs at 9000’ will jump to around 40 degrees by 2pm before the cold front arrives bringing temps down several degrees by 4pm. Light to moderate W/NW winds. Sunday night, periods of heavy snow look to bring around 4 to 8 inches by Monday morning. Whoa.
