Coast Range Powder Day, Atmospheric River Approaching
Summary
The highest 24-hour snow reports on Thursday morning include 32 cm (13”) at Mt. Seymour and Grouse Mountain, 25 cm (10”) at Cypress Mountain, and 20 cm (8”) at Powder King, while Whistler and Revelstoke both came in at 15 cm (6”) apiece. Snow continues across BC today with a heavier round this evening for the Coast Range, resulting in an additional 15-35 cm (6-14”) through Friday morning. The best turns for Coast Range areas will be Thursday afternoon and first chair Friday morning. An atmospheric river (extended plume of subtropical Pacific moisture) will begin to impact the Interior Thursday night, bringing heavy snow, and unfortunately, snow levels rising to 1,500 meters, through Saturday night. Total snow amounts will range from 25-75 cm (10-30”) across the Interior, favoring higher elevation areas, through Saturday night. The best powder turns can be expected Friday morning for all areas, and again Friday afternoon and all-day Saturday for higher elevation areas less susceptible to rain and above freezing temperatures.
