The Arctic Beast Departs for the Weekend

Summary

A beastly cold ridge of arctic high pressure over southern Alberta with tight pressure gradients will continue to throw frigid east winds into the Alberta Rockies through Friday morning. Alpine wind chills will dip below -40C. Relief is in sight for the weekend as a westerly flow develops on Friday. A Pacific trough moves in on Sunday bringing periods of light snow with around 3 - 5cm possible.
