Copper Mountain Daily Snow

Update
We are in the middle of a dry stretch of weather that will last through Monday, December 23.
Now on Thursday, a storm is moving near Colorado, but the atmosphere is very dry and so we will not see any precipitation. The only way that this storm will make itself known is to cover the sky with clouds and drop temperatures into the teens, which is 5-10°F cooler than the readings we saw on Wednesday.
On Friday and Saturday, look for mostly sunny skies and warm temperatures with highs on Friday in the 20s and highs on Saturday likely getting into the 30s.
On Sunday and Monday, temperatures will continue to be comfortable in the 30s and we’ll likely see more clouds as the next storm approaches from the southwest.
From later Tuesday through Wednesday we will see a chance or snow and my best early estimate is that accumulations will be in the 1-4 inch range. The timing of the storm could be perfect to deliver flakes on Christmas Eve and/or Christmas morning. The track of the storm will be from the southwest, and this is generally not a favorable direction for deep accumulations and is why I am keeping my expectations on the low end.
Later in the week, around Thursday or Friday, a second storm could take a similar southwestern track and deliver an additional 1-4 inches.
While these southwestern storms usually do not produce big snow in Colorado’s northern mountains, there is always a chance that additional energy from the northwest swoops in and boosts snow totals just a bit. Fingers crossed.
